Summary of "3 DICAS PARA GANHAR + PRODUTIVIDADE NO ARCHICAD - PARTE 01/03"
Archicad productivity tip — Part 1 of 3
Topic
Quick tutorial on using Archicad’s linked guides (link points) to speed up modeling and place elements precisely (for example, toilets or light fixtures) without drawing temporary geometry.
Quick tip: use the bound-guide hotkey to get the exact midpoint of an interval so you can place fixtures or objects centered without drawing temporary lines.
Key features & settings explained
-
Linked guides
- Dashed blue guide lines that appear when hovering over model elements.
- Controlled from the linked-guides icon in the top toolbar.
-
Midpoint display options
- Default: Archicad shows midpoints between element nodes (start/end).
- Change: in the linked-guides palette set to “midpoint between intersection points” to see division points between intersecting elements — useful for centering objects in a room or interval.
-
Bound guide (limit guide) hotkey
- Use the bound-guide shortcut to instantly show the bound point for an interval.
- Typical workflow:
- Select the element you want to place.
- Mark the two sides of the desired interval using the bound-guide key.
- An imaginary line appears showing the midpoint.
- Place the centered object quickly.
-
Applicability
- Works for furniture/fixtures and construction elements (also helps when elements are being sectioned), improving modeling speed and placement accuracy.
Workflow benefits / practical tips
- Avoids drawing temporary lines to find midpoints.
- Faster and more accurate placement of centered elements (fixtures, lights, objects).
- Improves general project development efficiency.
Context
This video is the first of a three-part tip series; two additional tips will be released in the following days.
