Etsy 2024 October Algorithm Update: Everything You Need Know

Main Financial Strategies and Changes:

• Shipping Price Threshold: Listings with domestic shipping prices lower than $6 will be prioritized in search results. Sellers are advised to adjust their shipping costs accordingly, as higher shipping prices can deter buyers.
• Search Visibility Page: Etsy has introduced a new Search Visibility Page for sellers to identify areas needing improvement, replacing the previous search analytics beta.
• Return Policy Requirement: Having a return policy in place can positively impact search placement, even if returns are not accepted unless legally required.
• Listing Quality: Listings should include multiple high-quality photos (at least five) to improve visibility. Photos should not be collages and must be at least 2,000 pixels wide.

Methodology for Sellers:

• Adjust Shipping Prices: Ensure domestic shipping prices are below $6 to improve search ranking.
• Implement Return Policies: Set up a return policy in your listings to enhance search visibility.
• Enhance Listing Photos:
  • Use at least five high-quality images.
  • Avoid collages in the first listing photo.
  • Ensure images are well-lit and at least 2,000 pixels wide.
• Monitor Shop Metrics: Keep an eye on review ratings, message response rates, and refund rates, as these also affect search ranking.

Upcoming Events:

• Alpha Holiday Boot Camp: A 7-day training program for Etsy sellers to prepare for the holiday season, featuring expert coaches and live Q&A sessions.
