Summary

Cinderella’s mother dies after telling Cinderella to be good and pious, promising that God will care for her. Soon after, Cinderella’s father remarries a cruel widow with two equally mean daughters. But as midnight approaches, Cinderella panics and rushes away—one glass slipper falls off as she escapes. The prince chases her, searching the entire kingdom and ordering every girl to try on the shoe. It doesn’t fit anyone until they finally reach Cinderella’s house. The stepmother tries to hide Cinderella by locking her in the attic, but the searching men force the lock and find her. The shoe fits perfectly, and the prince recognizes Cinderella instantly.

Cinderella is taken to the palace, the king and queen celebrate, and her father is invited to the wedding. Cinderella marries the prince, and the story ends with everyone living happily ever after.
