Nigerian Wicked | SNL UK

Overview

The sketch reimagines Wicked as a chaotic Nollywood blockbuster, complete with a “stressful sound mix.”

Plot

Glinda and Elphaba are training to be witches, but their friendship gets off to a rocky start when Glinda slaps Elphaba for being “classless” and complains about the smell of eggs. Their professor is unusual, too: he’s a goat, and the characters wonder why he isn’t talking.

The witches set off to find the Wizard, hoping he can grant their wishes. One asks for a “skinny BBL,” prompting the musical-style refrain “Defies gravity” and “Jiggle, jiggle.” But the Wizard turns out to be broke, and his offer of Bailey’s Irish Cream is met with suspicion when it tastes “off.”

Along the way, the parody piles on absurdities, including flying monkeys and a joke about where the film found “the niece.” It ends by leaning into the musical format and calling itself “Nigerian Weekend, LGBTQ.”
