Escape from Pryce’s Base

Zeshu’s escape begins with Glaceon trying to bring along nearly everything she owns—including a sack full of glass beads and Zeshu’s boots. She settles for her patched Eevee doll, and the two slip out of Pryce’s masked-child base during a staged power outage.

Zeshu has spent five years being trained to steal Pokémon, but he has secretly had a “Do Good Deeds” system all along: every good deed earns him a treasure chest. Unfortunately, even slacking off during training counts as a good deed, so his rewards have been slow to arrive.

At the base’s exit, Zeshu reunites with Blue, his masked partner. They finally remove their masks and see each other’s faces for the first time. Blue jokes that Zeshu should become her Pokémon and travel with her, but Pryce catches up with them on the beach. Zeshu sends Blue away to safety and faces Pryce alongside Glaceon. Her Sunny Day fuels Zeshu’s mysterious golden flame, which erupts in a massive attack. The escape succeeds, though Zeshu is badly burned and washed up far away with Glaceon.

A New Life in Sinnoh

Zeshu’s first reward haul is spectacularly unhelpful for treating a fever: a whistle, a bell, and the Icicle Plate, an artifact associated with Arceus. A fastidious wild Minccino takes pity on him, brings him healing berries, and fusses over his dirty appearance.

Soon after, Zeshu finds Minccino and several other Pokémon trapped by hunters. He and Glaceon take down the criminals—culminating in Zeshu grabbing an Arbok by the tail and swinging it into a tree—and free the captives. The rescue earns him an Exp. Share, and the police connect him with Professor Rowan, who gives him a place to stay and helps him get an ID.

Zeshu’s new life quickly fills with unlikely allies and comic trouble. He adopts a timid Snorunt, who’s frightened of people but eager to grow strong. Professor Rowan offers him a teaching job, where Zeshu protects Dawn from teasing after Plusle shocks her on her first day with it. Rowan’s Chatot, meanwhile, keeps stealing Zeshu’s hair and mocking his bald spots. Zeshu catches Chatot with a Poké Ball thrown like a baseball, then immediately asks Rowan to reimburse him for the ball.

Team Galactic’s Schemes

The danger escalates when Zeshu uncovers Team Galactic’s plan to threaten Lake Verity. Disguised as one of the hunters working with Commander Mars, he helps lure the group into a trap, then leads them through the dark forest to a police ambush. He even takes a real bomb away from the lake before the criminals can use it.

Snorunt blows the black-glass whistle to summon the forest’s angry Pokémon, while Zeshu’s plan funnels the fleeing hunters into a dead end. With Mars arrested and Elite Four member Flint on the scene, the operation becomes a major victory. Mesprit appears afterward to thank Zeshu, but its blessing awakens a painful darkness inside Snorunt.

Zeshu becomes a League investigator and gains a new teammate: an Alolan Vulpix who hatches almost immediately after arriving. He also captures a deeply traumatized Shadow Pokémon, Pawniard, whose purification starts at an alarming minus 100 percent.

Meanwhile, Team Galactic’s plots keep multiplying. Zeshu disrupts an attempted attack on the Valley Windworks, helps expose Hunter J’s operation, and steals the show by taking over her airship. After putting its crew to sleep, he ties up 108 Pokémon hunters across the deck and flies the ship to the League. Cynthia and the League’s forces arrive prepared for a battle, only to find the criminals already captured—and Zeshu complaining about the smell.

The Lake Guardians and the Spear Pillar

The mystery around Snorunt leads Zeshu to Mt. Coronet, where Giratina appears at the Spear Pillar. Giratina’s power is connected to the darkness tormenting Snorunt, but it leaves behind the Gracidea Orb, which lets Zeshu contain that darkness. With its pain under control, Snorunt finally evolves into Froslass.

Froslass promptly shows off her new ghostly abilities by dodging and defeating a Weavile that had been robbing travelers. Zeshu even persuades the thief to stop stealing from innocent people in exchange for food.

Team Galactic’s next schemes draw Zeshu into a battle against Darkrai, which traps the town in nightmares. Zeshu turns the tables by using his flame to overwhelm Darkrai’s dream world, leaving the nightmare Pokémon terrified of him. Afterward, Mesprit and Uxie wind up sharing a Psyduck—creating an odd little crew member who mostly just clutches its head and says “Quack.” Zeshu also recovers the three Lake Guardians’ treasures, which combine into the real Red Chain.

At the Spear Pillar, Cynthia and the League have been fighting Cyrus and Palkia for days. Zeshu arrives with the Red Chain and takes control of Palkia, while Dialga appears and joins the chaos. His golden flame helps him stop both legendary Pokémon almost immediately. Giratina then knocks Cyrus back out of the Distortion World instead of letting him escape, allowing Zeshu to arrest him. Team Galactic’s plan to remake the world is finally stopped.

What Comes Next

With Sinnoh saved, Zeshu earns a mysterious Arceus phone showing a connection to Hisui, and Cynthia gives him a letter of introduction to help him search for Blue. He sets off on vacation—though his Pokémon team, the still-unresolved mysteries, and the promise of more trouble suggest it may not stay peaceful for long.
