Dead By Daylight Devs BEND THE KNEE To Modern Audience OUTRAGED Over "Harmful" BurntPeanut Collab

Overview

The video discusses the backlash after Dead by Daylight developers gave streamer TheBurntPeanut free in-game cosmetics and currency during a stream. Some players and creators accused him of making racist, homophobic, or transphobic remarks. They also criticized the studio for rewarding him when other creators who support the game had not received similar treatment.

Several people said they would stop playing or supporting the game. One creator publicly questioned whether supporters of a boycott would help pay their bills.

The Host’s Commentary and Clips

The host argues that the collaboration was a sensible promotional decision because TheBurntPeanut attracts a large audience. The host characterizes the backlash as an effort by a vocal minority to control the game’s community.

The video includes clips of TheBurntPeanut disputing that he made anti-trans comments and responding with a joke. It also includes Moon Kitten condemning the collaboration and calling for an apology. The host criticizes Moon Kitten’s arguments as inconsistent and mocks calls for a boycott and an apology.

The Studio’s Response

The Dead by Daylight team later apologized, saying the giveaway had been made without the proper approvals and that the team’s subsequent comments did not reflect the game’s stated values. It said it would review internal procedures and condemned threats against employees.

The apology drew criticism from both sides. Some commenters called it capitulation, while others said it was insufficient and demanded further action.

Conclusion

The host concludes that the apology has not resolved the dispute and argues that the studio’s response may encourage further pressure campaigns. These are the host’s judgments; the video also presents competing reactions from players and creators.
