Overview

At eight years old, the Dragon Clan heir Bai is snatched from his garden by Ho-Oh and delivered to the masked ice master Pryce. Rather than panic, Bai recognizes the other kidnapped children—including Karen, Will, Blue, and Silver—and sees Pryce’s frightening training as a shortcut to power. He also has a hidden advantage: memories of the Pokémon world from a previous life.

Ten years later, Bai is a feared Team Rocket executive. His ambitions take him across regions, where he pursues Legendary Pokémon, challenges powerful trainers, and draws the attention of both Rocket and the Pokémon League.

Galar: Eternatus

Bai travels to Galar to claim Eternatus, the Dragon hidden beneath Hammerlocke. He breaks into Rose’s energy factory, frees the imprisoned Legendary, and escapes amid a citywide disaster. When Zacian arrives to stop Eternatus, Bai manipulates the fight, forcing the wolf to choose between pursuing its ancient enemy and protecting Hammerlocke from falling meteors. Zacian saves the city, and Bai catches the weakened Eternatus. He celebrates by filming the battle for his collection.

In the Crown Tundra, Bai feeds Eternatus energy from Max Raid dens and catches Galarian Moltres after repeatedly dunking it in an icy lake. He also clashes with Calyrex, who intervenes when Zacian attacks Eternatus and then fights Zacian itself, giving Bai time to escape. Bai’s deadpan companion Marnie joins him on the road, often unimpressed by his schemes and willing to point out when he is acting like a villain.

Sinnoh: The Jewel of Life

Bai meddles in Sinnoh’s story of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, drawing Cynthia, Caitlin, and the temple guardians into a confrontation with Team Galactic. He tricks Cyrus into doing the digging, then reveals that the jewel in his possession is a fake.

When Dialga appears, Bai challenges it with Eternatus. He eventually unleashes Eternamax Eternatus and wins a spectacular, mountain-shattering battle. Bai negotiates the chance to travel through time with Dialga in the future, hoping to help Pryce undo the tragedy that led him to kidnap children. Bai also acquires Arceus’s Plates, including the Draco Plate for Eternatus.

Kanto: Team Rocket and the S.S. Anne

Back in Kanto, Bai reunites with Pryce’s former students and becomes entangled in Giovanni’s Team Rocket plans. He defeats Green’s three Pokémon in a gym battle, surprising Green with a Tyranitar that knows both Hydro Pump and Thunder. He also recruits Marnie, Karen, and Will into Rocket.

In Viridian Forest, Bai befriends Yellow, gives her a Pikachu and Poké Balls, and encourages her to become a trainer. He pressures Blaine for information about Dr. Fuji, who later agrees to help build another Mewtwo, with Colress as a scientific partner.

The most chaotic Kanto episode unfolds aboard the S.S. Anne. Team Rocket lures trainers onto the ship with a fake festival and uses a hold full of sleeping Voltorb and Electrode as a terrifying bluff. Ash, Misty, Brock, Red, Blue, and Caitlin are caught up in the takeover. Bai reveals his allegiance, battles Red, and defeats his Charizard and Venusaur.

When Lorelei attacks Rocket and risks freezing bystanders, Red stands up to her, insisting that cruelty is wrong no matter who commits it. Bai and Lance then clash in the sky above the ship. Their Dragonair and Dragonite meet head-on, and neither gives way, ending their first encounter in a draw.

Unova: Reshiram and Kyurem

In Unova, Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth, chooses Bai despite his belief that power matters more than ideals. Bai later seeks out Kyurem, which can take forms resembling Reshiram and Zekrom. This leads to a massive battle involving N, Zekrom, Team Plasma, Colress’s Genesect, Eternatus, and Zacian.

Kyurem proves too powerful to capture. After Eternamax Eternatus helps defeat it, Kyurem promises to accept Bai as its partner if he can beat it one-on-one in the future. Bai also challenges N to consider whether his ideals are truly his own.

Current Developments

The recap ends with Bai assembling a private lab for the Mewtwo project. Team Rocket, the League, and powerful trainers across the regions are beginning to see him as a major threat.

Lance discovers that Bai is his cousin and vows to bring him back “into the light.” Bai, meanwhile, looks forward to their next battle and hints that Lance has caught a new, formidable Dragon.
