Main Plot

A tragedy strikes: Gamal is killed by a horrifying “hook-like” creature at the same time the guarded mummy awakens. Mila becomes the widow, and the family’s protective duty turns into terror.

The story shifts to an American immigrant family in Egypt led by Charlie, whose daughter Katy is skilled (including using Morse code).
Katy befriends a mysterious “Katy assistant” figure—later revealed to connect back to Mila/Layla’s side of the mystery.
