Recap

Uchiha Akira is a reincarnated shinobi in the middle of the Third Great Ninja War, with one simple rule: stay alive. When Fugaku sends him to investigate the missing Rin and Kakashi, Akira arrives at the aftermath of Obito’s awakening instead—and finds Kakashi unconscious, with Obito’s newly awakened Mangekyō Sharingan in his eye socket.

Akira makes a ruthless gamble: he swaps Kakashi’s Mangekyō for his own ordinary Sharingan, leaving Kakashi with a Sharingan but keeping the more powerful eye for himself. He also collects traces of Hashirama’s cells at the scene, then tells Fugaku just enough to make the clan suspect that the village leadership is hiding a Wood Release user. The eye swap is technically true, he argues later, because Kakashi still has “a Sharingan” in that socket.

His next assignment is to recover a stolen Byakugan. Akira finds the Mist ninja carrying it, defeats them with genjutsu and lightning, and quietly keeps the eye rather than returning it to the Hyūga. He reasons that the Byakugan’s eventual upgrade, the Tenseigan, sounds much easier to obtain than the Rinnegan. The mission also becomes less urgent once he has the eye safely in his pocket—which is unfortunate, because the universe soon sends him the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

Akira saves young Might Guy, Genma, and Ebisu from the swordsmen, then battles the group alongside Guy’s father, Might Dai. Akira takes down several swordsmen, while Dai opens the Seventh Gate and unleashes a spectacular assault that leaves the kids—and Guy himself—stunned. The joke that Dai is “just a genin” keeps resurfacing as the others try to reconcile his rank with his power. Guy, meanwhile, becomes determined to grow strong enough to protect everyone. Akira captures one swordsman alive, though the Samehada-wielder escapes.

Later, Akira faces the Six-Tails jinchūriki. He defeats the host with an enormous lightning technique, then controls the released beast with his Mangekyō long enough to cut off a piece of its tail and—more audaciously—make it sign a summoning contract. The Six-Tails escapes into the forest, but Obito eventually captures it and takes it into his Kamui dimension. Akira doesn’t know that yet.

Back in the Leaf, Akira turns his battlefield gains into political leverage. He helps Fugaku secure four legendary swords as bargaining chips for backing Minato’s Hokage bid, and recruits the former Root spy Yakushi Nono to lead a new biotech company. Akira’s plans for the company include cloning and experiments with Hashirama cells. He also arranges for the company to rescue Uzumaki Rika from the Grass Village, where she is being abused for her healing ability. Akira’s motive is partly mercenary: he wants her tissues for his secret Chimera research project.

Akira’s growing reputation eventually draws him to the Land of Rain, where he fights Nagato’s early Pain bodies. He destroys the Naraka Path, uses the rain and storm clouds to unleash a massive lightning attack against the Deva Path, and badly damages it. Obito appears, claiming to be Madara, but Akira mocks the masked man for hiding his face and pretending to be the legendary Uchiha. Akira also discovers that one of his squadmates, Aburame Shiko, is a Root spy sent to kill him. Shiko attacks, gets caught by Akira’s lightning clone and genjutsu, and is then silenced by his own parasitic bugs before Akira can interrogate him.

The story’s biggest turning point is the Nine-Tails’ attack on the Leaf. Akira had warned Fugaku that an enemy might strike during Kushina’s childbirth, but Danzo and the Third keep the Uchiha away from the front, assigning them to evacuation instead. Akira sees through the order and leads the clan into the battle.

Fugaku uses his Mangekyō to briefly control the Nine-Tails, while Akira reveals his own eye’s terrifying Kamui ability, tearing off two of the fox’s legs. Meanwhile, Nagato attacks the Leaf, and Might Dai opens the Eighth Gate to deliver a devastating blow. He injures Nagato but dies from the cost of the technique. Minato fights Obito and manages to wound him, but Obito strikes Minato with Wood Release. Minato is fatally injured.

The Nine-Tails splits off two smaller versions of itself, but Kushina manages to bind them with her Uzumaki chains. Minato seals the main Nine-Tails into newborn Naruto, while the two fragments are sealed into baby Sasuke and baby Karin. Kushina is struck by the fox’s final attack and dies alongside Minato, despite Akira’s efforts to change the night’s outcome. The irony is painful: Akira changes the battle dramatically, but the Fourth Hokage and Kushina still die.

Akira’s biggest change comes afterward. Knowing Obito is badly wounded and will retreat to the Kamui dimension to recover, Akira uses Spirit Transformation to attack him inside his own mind. Obito resists, forcing Akira to withdraw—but Akira anticipates that he’ll hide in his supposedly safe dimension. Akira follows him there and kills him with a surprise attack. He takes Obito’s Mangekyō eyes and salvages his Hashirama-cell tissue, though he can’t use Kamui freely without risking blindness.

The recap ends with Akira at the funeral, the only person who knows that the masked “Madara” is dead. His next ambition is to awaken a Mangekyō of his own—possibly by creating a spirit with staged memories and putting it through a manufactured tragedy. Even for Akira, that plan sounds dangerously elaborate.

Notable Jokes and Reactions

  • Akira’s explanation that Kakashi still has a Sharingan is “technically true,” just not the one Kakashi started with.
  • He treats rare eyes and body parts like collectibles, privately congratulating himself on acquiring both a Mangekyō and a Byakugan.
  • Guy’s friends repeatedly struggle with the fact that his father is a genin despite fighting like a legend. Genma even jokes about becoming Dai’s student.
  • Akira’s blunt assessment of Hiruzen’s famous feats—essentially his entire “highlight reel”—is an especially cheeky moment.
  • Obito’s grand claim that he is Madara gets undercut by Akira repeatedly calling him a cowardly masked impostor.
  • The plant-like Zetsu’s strange joke about Obito’s injury sounding like “really needing the bathroom” briefly punctures the grim mood.
  • The final funeral scene lands on a bitterly funny contrast: everyone believes Madara is still out there, while Akira knows he killed him.
