Overview

Qorin 2 is a horror film about bullying, corruption, and revenge.

Plot Summary

Makmur, a poor scavenger, is grieving his wife while his son, Jaya, is repeatedly bullied by Dharma and his gang. Makmur reports the abuse, but the school principal and other influential villagers dismiss him. Dharma’s father, Indra, is a powerful local official who protects his son, while hush money helps keep witnesses quiet. Fitri, a teacher, is one of the few people who takes Jaya’s complaints seriously.

After the authorities fail to act, Makmur turns to a dark ritual involving qarin—supernatural doubles of the dead. As people connected to the bullying and its cover-up begin dying, Fitri keeps encountering figures she believes are alive, including the principal, a security guard, and even her own mother. An ustaz explains that a qarin can appear after its human counterpart has died. Fitri eventually realizes that many of the people she has seen are already dead, and that Makmur is behind the killings.

Rijal, one of Dharma’s gang members, admits that he helped bully Jaya and joins Fitri in investigating. They discover Makmur’s ritual room and the shrouds he has been using to summon qarins. Meanwhile, Makmur confronts and kills Dharma, but Indra has him seized and taken to the village square. Makmur summons a crowd of qarins and explains that he wanted revenge on a community that ignored Jaya’s suffering and looked down on his family. Rijal helps save his brother, but the villagers turn on Makmur and beat him to death.

Fitri and Rijal get Jaya out of the village. The police later recover the victims’ bodies from a pile of garbage, and Jaya is finally forced to face that his mother is truly gone. The ending suggests the cycle may not be over: Jaya is shown preparing a shroud-knot ritual to summon his father’s qarin.

Humor and Reactions

The recap narrator frequently punctuates the horror with sarcastic asides and pop-culture references. Indra is called a “Hokage,” Makmur is compared to a slasher-movie villain, and the supernatural stink is joked about as being so bad it could make nose hairs fall out. The contrast between the grim violence and the narrator’s playful delivery is a running feature of the video.
