Story Summary

SuperHorrorBro Mike unpacks the story of House, a pixel-art horror game about Tabby, a girl trapped in a repeating day inside a sinister, living house.

Each cycle brings new dangers: her mother may die in a kitchen accident, her sister Melody can be crushed by a falling chandelier, and her father eventually comes home in a murderous rage. Tabby is the only one aware of the loop. The house’s monsters try to push her toward cruel acts, while a long-necked neighbor and a polite talking snail named Marty encourage her to do good.

The family’s misery traces back to the murder of Toby, a boy who befriended Melody. Under the house’s influence, Tabby’s father killed him, and her mother hid his body beneath the master bedroom. Toby’s death devastated Melody, drove their mother to drink, and helped the house take control of the family.

True Ending

The game has six possible endings, but the video focuses on the true ending, which is unlocked after Tabby has experienced the others.

The house speaks through Melody’s old doll, warning Tabby to stop resisting. Eventually, Tabby breaks the hallway clock and escapes the loop into the house’s grotesque inner world—a living mass of organs, eyes, fingers, and mouths. She destroys its beating heart, then confronts the puppet-master behind the family’s suffering. The withered figure grabs her and tears off her arm, but Tabby kills him with the axe used to murder Toby and destroys the doll as well.

Tabby escapes the house and ends the curse, but at a terrible cost: her family is gone, and she has lost an arm. The house still haunts her dreams, where she relives the terror of her former life. She is free during the day, but never entirely free of her trauma.
