Recap

In a world where people awaken to divine realms at 18, Hanu gets one of the worst possible starts: his main clan is a weak Locust Clan, and his divine power is barely worth noticing. He also has a personal goal beyond getting stronger—his parents disappeared in the chaos of the Imperial College, and he hopes to reach the prestigious Imperial University to find them.

School life is no kinder. Jung Bin, a powerful bully with a Dwarf army, demands that Hanu hand over his divine power or have his realm core destroyed. Hanu refuses—and turns down Chin Shuang’s offer to protect him, even though it means becoming her servant. His reasoning is simple: he may be powerless, but he still has his dignity.

Hanu’s secret advantage is a system that lets him sacrifice enormous numbers of Locusts for useful rewards. He chooses an explosive artifact, turning his ordinary insects into swarming, self-destructing weapons. When Jung Bin invades his realm, Hanu’s Locusts blow apart the Dwarves and pursue the bully’s army through the portal. He even starts destroying Jung Bin’s divine core. A teacher finally intervenes, but Hanu pointedly asks why the teacher never showed up when he was being bullied. The teacher has no real answer, and Jung Bin’s core is destroyed.

That victory brings revenge threats from Jung Bin’s demigod parents, so Hanu keeps investing in his army. He develops lava-exploding Locusts, acquires a heroic swordsman familiar named Jan Fun, and prepares for a thousand-strong attack. Instead, Jung Bin’s father sends a much larger force, including a powerful Wolf Cavalry. Hanu’s Locusts take heavy losses, but Jan Fun and his four Storm Swords turn the battle around. The family is forced to retreat, and Hanu soon captures the surviving Wolves for sacrifice rather than wasting them.

At school, Hanu’s success earns him attention—and makes his teacher’s class-change test suspiciously brutal. The teachers give him a level-10 challenge against 10,000 fire-resistant Goblins. His Locusts and Jan Fun do much of the fighting, but the surprise turning point is a force of Dwarves he rescued and put to work. They help him win, and Hanu changes to a more supportive teacher’s class. Chin Shuang and another student follow suit, while a jealous classmate fumes.

The school’s major exam is a series of escalating invasions. Hanu uses lava to defeat waves of Skeletons, then makes the teachers’ accusations of cheating look ridiculous when he defeats the Bone Collector simply because the Skeletons’ bones were already burned away. He takes first place, wins major rewards, and chooses a Fountain of Life to strengthen his realm rather than chasing an immediate power boost.

Hanu’s growing success still doesn’t impress some elite university examiners: they hear “Locusts” and see a weak student. He sets his sights on Imperial University anyway. Meanwhile, he helps Chin Shuang fight a powerful frog demigod, and the two defeat it together—after the giant Frog swallows her, leaving Hanu to help create an opening for her escape and counterattack.

Hanu then discovers that the Blood Arena offers a way to obtain divine-core fragments. He racks up 889 consecutive victories, despite losing a huge number of Locusts along the way. When he challenges a demigod opponent known as Mr. Mammoth, his army initially looks outmatched. Then Hanu brings out his Demonic Bulls and Skeleton clans, including a massive Bone Controller that overwhelms the Mammoths. His win earns him an invitation to become a successor to the Blood Arena—and a billion divine power from the bets placed on him. The arena’s reward system comes with a catch: its future succession contest will pit hundreds of successors against one another.

A visit to blacksmith Tony provides one of the story’s funniest detours. Hanu buys a special insect-breeding artifact, then bargains down the price of the mysterious “Greedy Wolf.” The artifact turns out to be a literal wolf that immediately wants to eat other artifacts. Hanu’s divine realm is now crowded with Locusts, Dwarves, Demonic Bulls, Skeletons, familiars, and increasingly strange pets—all of which need food, equipment, and upgrades.

For another university evaluation, Hanu is sent to a fantasy-like city where his Locusts are branded a “demon” invasion. He’s more offended when the captured adventurers describe him as an ugly Locust with big eyes and antennae than he is by their attacks. He develops a Locust-man familiar, gathers class fragments to make it an Archer, and eventually finds a sealed Black Dragon named Elfus. Hanu frees the dragon by using the Greedy Wolf to eat its chains, but only after making Elfus agree to serve him for a hundred years. Elfus’s prideful declarations that he is a “great black dragon” repeatedly clash with the fact that Hanu is giving the orders.

Hanu organizes the local monsters into an alliance against the adventurers’ city. After taking on a Black Dragon Warrior transformation, he kills a Wind Hero with his Locust swarm and then leads a full-scale assault on the city to rescue Elfus. His forces defeat the city’s Heroes, and Hanu’s Skeletons and monsters take control. He returns to school with a recommendation for Western University, though he still has to meet difficult admission conditions—and his real goal remains Imperial University.

The final arc takes Hanu to the Ruins of the Divine Ravine, where mutant beasts produce valuable genetic stones. After a dangerous encounter with Jung Bin’s father, Hanu stumbles into a secret ritual meant to break an ancient seal. The ritual releases a powerful being called the Source of Mutation, which traps the gathered participants and forces them to raise beasts capable of fighting a Class Six mutant.

Hanu uses his decomposition machine to refine radiation ore and creates an extraordinarily mutated Locust. After an 18-hour battle, it defeats the Class Six beast—but the Source of Mutation then tries to make Hanu its vessel. The being, which calls itself Kamigawa, merges with him and grants him new powers. Hanu’s immediate concern is less about the cosmic implications and more practical: how to get out before the approaching gods arrive. He escapes using his Blood Arena connection, leaving the powerful visitors to find a mysterious Locust corpse where he had been.
