Deployment at the Parliament Complex

TNI soldiers and tactical vehicles were deployed to guard the Indonesian parliament complex. Defense Minister Syafri Samsudin said the deployment would continue until conditions were considered conducive. He described the DPR as a symbol of state sovereignty and said the situation would be assessed as it developed.

YLBHI’s Criticism

YLBHI Chair Muhammad Isnur criticized the deployment as inappropriate. He argued that the TNI’s constitutional role is to address threats to state sovereignty, not to guard civilian buildings such as the DPR. He questioned whether the people who had come to the parliament were being treated as a threat to sovereignty.
