Summary of "Snakes, Monkeys, and Imps, Oh Boy! | TzHaar City E01"
Storyline / Goal
- Creator: Fight Trek.
- Challenge: an “extreme one‑chunk ironman” — remain inside a single 64×64 chunk around the Karamja volcano / TzHaar / Zar City and complete every task, achievement and skilling grind possible inside that chunk.
- Long‑term major goal: obtain the fire cape by beating Jad in the Fight Caves (the biggest challenge).
- Other chunk objectives:
- Collect resources and drops from local enemies (imps, monkeys, snakes, jungle spiders, Zar creatures, lesser demons in Elvar’s layer).
- Craft onyx bolt tips (requires uncut onyx drops).
- Obtain best‑in‑slot early gear (e.g., wizard robe skirt, eventually obsidian staff/cape).
Starting sequence / Logistics
- Skip Tutorial Island to save time.
- In Lumbridge: sell starting Tutorial Island items (bronze dagger, etc.) to the general store to get ~30 coins for travel.
- Travel route: Lumbridge → Port Sarim → boat to Musa Point / Karamja.
- Early visits to Berthorpe (on Karamja) were required to unlock daily tasks — the challenge needed two Karamja trips early to set these up.
Enemies, resources, and chunk features
- Main early enemies inside the chunk:
- Imps, monkeys, snakes — primary early combat XP and drops (cabbage/bread for food, runes, hides, possible robe pieces).
- Jungle spiders (on the chunk border) — much better XP than imps/monkeys and greatly speed early melee grind.
- Scorpions and giant bats — next targets once attack/levels allow; scorpions give ~100 XP per kill and are a major throughput upgrade.
- Nearby / special locations:
- Elvar’s layer (dangerous dungeon near the chunk) — contains lesser demons that drop black weapons; currently too risky for the hardcore run.
- Zar City enemies — drop obsidian pieces, melee/ranged/magic weapons and the obsidian cape; some drops (uncut onyx) are needed to craft onyx bolt tips.
- Chunk limitations:
- Some enemies can teleport or drop items outside the chunk, making those drops impossible to claim — plan around teleports and drop locations.
- Local chunk shops and economy are limited (see Constraints).
Progress and milestones shown
- Completed chunk tasks such as picking seaweed and crafting impious incense (timber/logs).
- Collected grimy guam from imps.
- Used imps/monkeys/snakes to train Attack/Strength/Defense/Prayer; later switched to jungle spiders, then scorpions when feasible.
- Reached base 20 in each melee stat and 18 Prayer during the episode.
- Obtained the wizard robe skirt from imps — current best‑in‑slot mage gear for the early challenge.
- Attempted the Fight Caves (counts as a chunk achievement).
The Fight Caves attempt is treated as a safe death in this setup — it restores HP/prayer and allows retrying without losing hardcore status.
Strategies, tips and constraints
- Early money and progression:
- Sell Tutorial Island gear at Lumbridge general store for ~30 coins to afford travel.
- Do the Berthorpe dailies on Karamja to earn extra early experience.
- Combat progression priority:
- Move from imps/monkeys/snakes → jungle spiders → scorpions/giant bats to progressively increase XP per kill and speed up combat grinding.
- Always kill imps when possible for unique drops (wizard robe skirt, runes, cabbage/bread, imp hides/glass), but expect many drops to teleport away or land outside your chunk.
- Fight Caves approach:
- Use the Fight Caves as practice and a chunk achievement since it’s a safe‑death environment; expect many attempts. The creator has not yet beaten Jad on other accounts, so multiple retries are normal.
- Resource and economy constraints:
- Chunk shops won’t buy back many items.
- You generally can’t convert runes/obsidian into local currency easily (the TzHaar “Taco” equivalent is limited).
- Pickpocketing for currency requires very high Thieving, which is impractical in this challenge — plan smithing/crafting around limited funds.
- Food scarcity:
- Early food is scarce (mostly cabbage and bread from imps). Survival relies on careful pull mechanics and leveling to reach better enemy drops.
Actionable next steps
- Continue killing imps/monkeys/snakes while opportunistically attacking jungle spiders on the chunk border.
- Push melee stats to reliable levels for scorpion/giant bat kills (base 20s achieved; next target levels for consistent scorpion kills).
- Repeatedly attempt the Fight Caves (safe‑death) to try for the fire cape while continuing to gather obsidian/onyx resources.
- Work toward crafting/obtaining obsidian staff and obsidian cape when drops and levels allow.
