Summary

Andrés, 15, is struggling to help his family after his father dies from exhaustion, leaving them short on money and essentials. Hoping to win a horror-film contest and give the prize to his mother, he convinces two friends to film at an abandoned house that belonged to his great-great-grandmother.

His younger brother warns him about rumors of strange lights, voices, and a figure in the windows, but Andrés dismisses them. Inside the house, the friends find a diary describing violent thoughts and troubling voices. They laugh it off and begin filming.

When Andrés tries to use his late father’s laptop, it displays a disturbing image of Kit: unnaturally colored, with strange eyes and a sinister grin. Andrés can’t close or restart it. His friends suddenly become violently ill, but just as Andrés is about to smash the laptop, it shuts down and their symptoms ease. They prepare to leave, but the laptop turns on again. Andrés collapses and hears ambulance sirens.

In a nightmare, the monstrous Kit warns Andrés that he’ll develop a difficult-to-cure illness. Andrés wakes in medical care, where his mother eventually reveals the family secret: his great-great-grandmother practiced witchcraft, harbored hatred toward her relatives, and cursed the house. Andrés is later diagnosed with epilepsy. His mother blames herself for not warning him, but he reassures her that entering the house was his choice.

The terror isn’t over. Andrés’s brother finds that the same sinister Kit image has appeared on his own laptop, and it refuses to be deleted. Andrés can only leave it alone and hope it doesn’t cause more harm.
