Shortly after, Greg’s father becomes withdrawn. Then Greg’s mother returns from an unexplained disappearance, behaving “wrong.” Soon, the family begins encountering eerie lookalikes, including a “grandpa” and “mom” whose eyes don’t seem fully human.

As the attacks escalate, siblings and relatives are injured or taken. The police get involved—sometimes even arresting Greg—until it becomes clear the threat is a mimic/impersonator capable of replacing family members.

Eventually, the town’s planned family reunion / memorial goes forward anyway. Greg tries to warn everyone that the real people (including his father and brother) are gone or missing—while impersonators keep arriving at both the house and the gathering.
