Best DIY Cat Running Wheel, Not Made From Wood!

Summary of the Video

In the video "Best DIY Cat Running Wheel, Not Made From Wood," the creator, known as the Cat Toy Lady, demonstrates how to construct a cat wheel using corrugated plastic instead of wood or foam board. Here are the key points and tips from the video:

Materials Needed:

• corrugated plastic (4x8 sheet)
• Four solid casters (2-inch size)
• Clips, painters tape, clear tape
• carpet tape (super strength double-stick tape)
• Floppy tape measure
• Push pin
• Box cutter
• low temp glue gun
• Scrap wood for support

Construction Steps:

1. Design and Measurement:
   • Use a dry erase marker to make marks on the corrugated plastic.
   • Create two arcs for the wheel's diameter (48 inches inner, 54 inches outer).
   • Cut out 12 pieces to form the wheel structure.
2. Assembly:
   • Match edges and tape them to ensure a perfect fit.
   • Use double-stick carpet tape for strong adhesion, especially on the inner and outer edges.
   • Sand down sharp edges to prevent injuries to cats.
3. Stabilization:
   • Create a box-like structure for the wheel to sit in using scrap wood for added stability.
   • Attach wheels to the base for mobility.
4. Final Adjustments:
   • Ensure the wheel is stable and not wobbling excessively.
   • Optionally, add traction using rugs or fleece for better grip.
5. Testing:
   • The creator emphasizes the importance of testing the wheel with their own cats to ensure functionality.
   • Command strips (like Velcro) can be used for easy cleaning of the wheel.
