Aging, Health, and Music

Helena says she takes care of her skin, exercises, and is open to some cosmetic procedures, but insists she is no “Botox queen.” She jokes about stretching in bed before getting up and says she is delighted that young audiences still know and sing along to her older hits.

Marriage and Family

Helena speaks affectionately about her husband, Martin Michal, describing their 23-year marriage as a strong partnership. She recalls how brutal the tabloid coverage was when they got together, but says they support one another and that he now manages her concerts.

Asked whether her relationship with her brother might improve, she gives a brief, thoughtful answer: “I leave it to fate.”

Life Away from the Stage

Helena says happiness comes from family, close friends, and simple pleasures. One down-to-earth example is her annual tradition of making preserves with a friend. This year, they put up 125 jars of cucumbers.
