Predator School Employee Realizes She's Been Caught

Overview

A 14-year-old boy in Reno, Nevada, was reported to investigators after being assaulted. After he lied about where he was going, his mother tracked him to a dead-end road, where he ultimately disclosed that he had been meeting an older woman.

The woman, 46-year-old Caitlyn Rock, worked as an engagement specialist at Billinghurst and Swope Middle Schools, supporting students who struggled with attendance. Investigators say Rock’s contact with the teenager began when he was about 13, and that while their interactions were supposedly limited to school grounds, they escalated outside school.

Investigation and Police Actions

Police report that detectives intercepted Rock’s car after she returned to her complex, believing she might be aware something was wrong. She was taken to the station, using evidence from the teenager’s cell phone and recorded communications.

During an interview, Rock claimed the inappropriate interactions were limited. She told investigators that the boy escalated matters, including that she had told him no when he asked to touch her—specifically describing it as touching her hips. Rock also described texting as basic check-ins and said she requested a lawyer during questioning, stating she could not explain further.

The teenager’s account, however, sharply contradicted Rock’s. He alleged Rock:

• Regularly picked him up
• Assaulted him in her vehicle and at her home
• Became intensely emotional (“breaking down”) when he tried to end the relationship
• Continued contact after the incident because he felt bad

Investigators also referenced explicit electronic messages they found, including:

• “I miss being in your arms”
• “Good, because my bed feels lonely without you here.”

Arrest and Aftermath

As Rock’s arrest approached, she arranged childcare for her children and texted her husband to inform him she was being arrested for an inappropriate relationship with a minor. She was arrested shortly afterward, and later records show her husband filed for divorce.

The investigation also included outreach attempts to Rock’s former schools and district administration. One principal described the situation as shocking. The district reportedly provided employment information but did not clearly address its position on the case.

Charges and Court Proceedings

Court records state Rock faced 19 felony charges involving the minor, including allegations tied to physical contact and electronic communications. She pleaded not guilty.

At sentencing on April 17, 2026, the victim addressed the court, saying he remained hurt, angry, and ashamed, and urged that Rock be imprisoned for a long time. Rock was ultimately sentenced to 144 years in prison.
