The new freeze mechanic in the Ice Log mode is inspired by Bad Company 2’s single-player mission “Snow Blind.”
Players experience an ice vignette around the screen and must find heat sources (fireplaces, houses) to avoid freezing to death.
Freezing causes the soldier’s weapon to visibly shake and eventually leads to coughing.

Players can warm up using incendiary grenades or the incendiary air burst launcher (support class only).
These gadgets create flames to heal and warm players and teammates but must be used carefully to avoid burning.
Assault class incendiary gadgets (thermobaric launcher, incendiary shotgun) do not provide effective warming.

The winter version of Empire State is available in Portal during the event.
Players can enable:

Weapon skins, charms, and stickers now sort unlocked items at the top of the list, making inventory management easier.
