Overview

An animated kids’ legend explains the origin of Bohol through magical events, slapstick mishaps, and family conflict.

A rich man’s daughter becomes ill while everyone lives high up “in the clouds.” Desperate, the rich man orders the doctor to do anything to save his only child.
The doctor brings the boy to a balite tree, and the community digs up soil around the roots. When the boy is supposed to be placed into a canal, the ground suddenly opens—and he falls into a stream, rolling downward comically in a classic “oh no!” moment.
Two girls who witness the fall help the boy and offer shelter. They eventually build a home and develop a new plan when the girl gets cold.
A small turtle tries to solve the cold problem by getting lightning from the clouds. When the cloud moves, it accidentally sweeps the turtle away—but the turtle manages to catch lightning. The lightning later becomes the sun and moon, bringing warmth and light to the girl.
The woman grows older living on the island with an old man, and they have twins:
- One twin becomes good, shaping the land—creating a plain, rivers, and animals—making Bohol fertile and livable.
- The other twin becomes bad, damaging what the good twin has made.
The good and bad twins clash. The good twin defends and protects Bohol’s environment, while the bad twin tries to take more. In the end, the good twin restores everything and brings the Boholanos to life by creating humans from the earth and spitting on them.
