vaultboy - take the hit (Official Music Video)

Quick recap

Vaultboy’s “Take the Hit” is a self-aware, upbeat anthem about shrugging off small life disasters and choosing to accept setbacks, stop overthinking, and keep going.

Main plot / lyrical narrative

• The singer narrates a streak of minor catastrophes: breaking down on the interstate, being late (and his “now ex” warning him not to be), and waking up way too late.
• He calls his best friend, who tells him he complains too much — prompting the song’s central advice: stop whining and “take the hit.”
• Refrain: a bittersweet, funny self-assessment that turns self-criticism into resilience.

“you may be [expletive], but not enough to sink the ship”

Highlights & hooks

• A catchy, infectious chorus that functions as a pep talk and a wink: “just take the ‘cause this is it — better days are on the way if you just roll with the punches.”
• Punchy, relatable moments that add humor and personality (missing half the day, friends still asleep while he’s wide awake).
• Repeated instrumental breaks that build energy between vocal lines.

Tone & notable jokes

• The song runs on self-deprecating humor: the singer pokes fun at himself while reframing mistakes as manageable.
• The chorus doubles as both a pep talk and a tongue-in-cheek dismissal of melodrama (“maybe I should just take the [expletive]”).

Takeaway

A short, catchy morale boost: life will throw small blows, but if you “take the hit” and roll with the punches, better days are coming.
