Recap
The movie opens with Lincoln trying to beat his ten sisters to Dad’s famous pancakes. He rigs a tripwire at the top of the stairs, sending the girls tumbling while he grabs breakfast and rushes out. At school, he gets into a locker-prank war with Chandler, then earns a referral after drawing an obscene doodle on Mr. Bolhofner’s chalkboard.
Rather than face the principal, Lincoln stages an elaborate fake emergency. He reports the school as a toxic hazard, imitates Principal Ramirez over the intercom to order an evacuation, and erases the security footage. He skips school to eat eight baskets of wings at Gus’ Games N’ Grub, where he also booby-traps both bathrooms with plastic wrap and ketchup packets. The pranks have spectacularly gross results—and prompt plenty of complaints.
That evening, Lincoln’s family and the people he inconvenienced confront him. His parents ground him for an absurd 555 trillion years, and he retreats to his room feeling trapped and hopeless. He disguises himself in black clothes, runs away, and takes a bus to Perry Heights, Ohio. When his family realizes he’s gone, they file a missing-person report and launch a sprawling search.
The search produces a string of comic detours. Clyde is devastated without Lincoln, while the family and friends recruit everyone from Flip and his airplane to soldiers, theater-club members, and a Ouija board. The board’s answer to where Lincoln is? “PLOT CONVENIENCE.” Sergio the parrot also abandons a pigeon party mid-rooftop-diving contest to look for him. Flip’s plane eventually runs low on fuel and crashes. It needs repairs—and an implausible 2,500 gallons of gas—before it can resume the search.
Meanwhile, Lincoln meets a reclusive woman who calls herself Mysteria. He tells her his name is Khlopchik and pretends to have amnesia, claiming he wants to leave his old life behind. She teaches him her bleak survival routine, including dumpster-diving for food.
A photo Sergio took of Lincoln eventually reaches the Louds, and facial recognition confirms it’s him. Lucy recognizes his old Morticians Club outfit, while Leni suggests the dark clothes may signal depression. The family begins to suspect their extreme punishment helped drive him away, and Lynn Sr. admits they went far too far.
After Lincoln sees his missing-person story in a newspaper, he confesses the truth to Mysteria and heads home. But his reunion turns into another mystery: the house is empty, his friends are missing too, and even Todd is found with amnesia. By calling around, Lincoln learns that his family and friends have vanished. A note from Mysteria sends him back to Perry Heights.
Lincoln discovers a hidden room full of skeletons and finds his loved ones captured. Mysteria reveals she is a serial kidnapper who abducted them because Lincoln lied to her. She had researched his life, tracked down his family and friends, and taken them to her hideout. She then sets 58 “Not-Characters” on him.
Lincoln transforms into an anime-style fighter and battles through the absurdly over-the-top roster. Jokes about AI motion tracking, fourth-wall breaks, and GoAnimate logic ensure nobody dies.
Once the opponents are defeated, the Louds and their friends break free and pile onto Mysteria. Lincoln apprehends her and calls the police, who arrest her and condemn the hideout as a crime scene. Mysteria is later identified as Emily Townsend and sentenced to life in prison for her crimes.
Lincoln returns to Royal Woods with his family and friends, explains what happened during his disappearance, and learns he’s ungrounded. The movie ends happily with everyone reunited—though Flip calls Clyde to ask about payment for his search-and-rescue mission, reviving one last bit of trouble.
