First Time Watching THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE And Absolutely Impressed! *Movie Reaction*

Overview

Angelina (Ang) explains that a power outage wiped out the first 40 minutes of her reaction video. Frustrated to have lost her “content gold,” she starts again later in the day and tries to recreate her original reactions from memory. She also shares nostalgic memories of watching her brother play Super Mario Galaxy.

Story and Reactions

The film’s bright, glowing animation wins Ang over immediately, especially the Lumas. In the adventure, Bowser Jr. kidnaps Rosalina to harness her cosmic power for a weapon that could destroy the universe. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Yoshi set out to rescue her. Ang delights in the game-inspired power-ups, platforming, and familiar visual cues.

She jokes about Yoshi’s species—“a turtle frog dinosaur crossbreed?”—and is charmed by his cap and egg-throwing antics. The story also reveals that Peach and Rosalina are sisters who were separated when Peach was sent to the Mushroom Kingdom for safety. Ang finds the revelation touching, while teasing Rosalina for having to leave Peach behind.

Meanwhile, Bowser tries to reconnect with Bowser Jr. through a bedtime story about their plan to conquer the universe. Ang finds the puppet-show version adorable, but quickly notices that Junior takes the story as an actual blueprint.

Standout Moments

Ang cheers Peach’s umbrella as both an iconic accessory and a weapon, enjoys the book-club jokes between Bowser and Luigi, and lights up at Fox McCloud’s surprise appearance, recognizing Glenn Powell’s voice. She also spots familiar characters and cameos, including the imprisoned Lumalee, and reacts to Daisy’s appearance after the credits.

Bowser’s shifting loyalties provide the emotional turn. He initially seems to have changed, but joins Junior’s plan. Later, after Mario and Luigi are turned into babies, Bowser risks himself to save them. Ang appreciates his redemption, while joking that his habit of coming back from defeat feels just like a game.

Mario and Peach ultimately combine their powers to stop the weapon and defeat Junior’s threat, bringing the family back together. The damaged castle is rebuilt in a playful 8-bit sequence.

Final Thoughts

Ang praises the movie’s animation, camera work, physical comedy, music, and plentiful cameos. She says the sequel may even be her favorite of the two because it can focus on an adventure with established characters rather than setting up an origin story.
