Top 10 Blatant Product Placements In Video Games

Video Games With Hard-to-Miss Product Placements

WatchMojo counts down games featuring product placements that range from candy-powered fantasy adventures to a fast-food mascot coaching a boxer.

1. #10 — Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension Chupa Chups appears in the game’s candy-themed levels.

2. #9 — Burnout Paradise The game featured billboards for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, which were removed after the election. The narrator jokes that John McCain could then enjoy the game with plenty of free time.

3. #8 — Mario Kart 8 Optional Mercedes-Benz DLC adds sleek cars that feel out of place among shells and Piranha Plants.

4. #7 — Enter the Matrix Powerade vending machines appear in the game, along with a tie-in commercial in which an Agent urges players to drink up.

5. #6 — Darkened Sky Skittles serve as magical power-ups, taking “tasting the rainbow” to a ridiculous extreme.

6. #5 — Pikmin 2 A Duracell battery is among the first treasures players recover. Its appearance prompts a joke about the game’s human-waste treasures.

7. #4 — Alan Wake Energizer batteries fit the flashlight-focused gameplay, but a Verizon ad interrupts the action. Players can even earn an achievement for sitting through the whole ad.

8. #3 — Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Airwaves, Nokia, and Axe branding appears throughout the game, including conspicuous neon signs and a branded blimp.

9. #2 — Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker In the Japanese version, Snake can wear Mountain Dew and Axe shirts, while Doritos and Pepsi serve as power-ups.

10. #1 — Fight Night Round 3 A Burger King logo on the boxing ring seems plausible—until the Burger King himself appears as the player’s coach. The narrator calls him distracting and creepy, and questions his advice about a boxer’s training diet.
