We Try FM27 New Draft Mode!

Summary

Omega Luke and his dad try FM27’s new Shuffle Draft mode. Since they couldn’t play against each other in Hot Seat mode, they teamed up to draft one squad and face an AI manager using a pool of top players.

Draft and tactics

They prioritized a strong defence and midfield, selecting Gabriel, William Saliba, Bruno Fernandes, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Reece James, Julian Alvarez, and Dennis Zakaria. They struggled to find a natural left-back and a reserve goalkeeper.

The team lined up in a 4-2-3-1, with Reece James in an adjusted fullback role. Foden started on the right, while Florian Wirtz was available from the bench.

Match

The AI manager used a narrow diamond. The match was mostly goalless, despite the team having more possession and creating chances. A Bruno Fernandes goal was ruled out for offside, and Thibaut Courtois made several important saves.

Late in the game, they switched to a more attacking mentality and increased the urgency. Bruno scored in the final seconds to secure a 1–0 win.

Takeaway

They see promise in Shuffle Draft, especially for playing online with friends, but feel the mode still needs some work.
